Afternoons on Ride The Rockies will feature a series of cycling seminars. The series will be hosted by Olympic medalist and former pro racer Ron Kiefel and include a variety of guest speakers. A complete schedule will be posted online this spring and printed in your tour map book.

Ron Kiefel

Ron Kiefel is a seven-time Tour de France competitor and a 1984 Olympic bronze medalist.  He first made headlines in 1983 when he became a triple U.S. National Champion with victories in the Road Race, Individual Time Trial, and the Team Trial.  Over the years he participated in multiple U.S.-based professional cycling teams including 7-Eleven, Motorola, Coors Light, and Saturn leading to wins in several races including the 1985 Troeo Laigueglia and the 1987 Tour of Tuscany.  In 1985, Ron became the first American stage winner in a Grand Tour when he won Stage 15 of the Giro d’Italia.  In 2004, he was appropriately inducted in the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame.  Since retiring from professional cycling thirteen years ago, Ron has been involved in TV and radio broadcast commentary and live reporting for many of the European classics and major tours.  He is currently the President of Wheat Ridge Cyclery which was started 36 years ago by his father Eugene and is co-owned with his sisters Erlinda Stafford and Leona McCormick.

Cycling seminars typically begin at 4:30 p.m. in each host town.
