Winter Park – Elevation 9,000 ft.
Just because you’re all grown up, doesn’t mean you have to stop playing. Just find a bigger playground! Welcome to Winter Park. With 600 miles of trails for hiking and biking, plus 321” of snow each year for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, sleigh rides and snow angel making, surely your inner child can find plenty to do. Good thing it’s a year-round playground conveniently located just 67 miles west of Denver.
After exiting I-70 on Exit 232, you’ll already begin to feel like you’re escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. Descending over Berthoud Pass on Highway 40, you’ll first arrive at Winter Park Resort, which is known for its world-class skiing and snowboarding. In addition, the newly developed Village at Winter Park has luxurious lodging, shopping, dining and endless summer activities, including Colorado’s Longest Alpine Slide. Continuing two miles down the road is the vibrant town of Winter Park, nestled at the foot of the Continental Divide, where you’ll find a multitude of lodging choices, all types of creative cuisine and shopping from bike gear to souvenirs, and friendly faces to give you tips on ways to play. The Fraser Valley then extends to the north of town, with accessible trails from the towns into the nearby national forests. With 588,000 acres of open space to explore, just be sure to lose yourself but not get lost.
Other nearby activities include 4 golf courses, 2 rivers and countless lakes and streams for fishing, rafting, boating and other water recreation fun, Rocky Mountain National Park where you will be “awed” by the scenery and wildlife, and 200+ summer events including music festivals, craft fairs, beer and wine festivals. Too many to name, but you get the picture.
Come see us in Winter Park – Colorado’s favorite playground that hosts any mountain adventure you can imagine, and your smile is even bigger on the way back home.
