Connie Carpenter
Connie is an American former racing cyclist and speed skater who won four medals in World Cycling Championship completions in the late 70’s and early 80’s. As a Skater, she was the youngest American woman to compete at the winter Olympics. Connie trained on a bicycle during the off season of skating and after an ankle injury in 1976, ending her skating, she began racing on the bike. As a competitive cyclist, she won the first women’s cycling event in Olympic history, won the Gold medal in the cycling road race at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, as well as twelve U.S national championships.
She is married to Davis Phinney and together they live in Boulder, Colorado when not roaming – or riding around – the planet.
