Meet The Mitchman

MitchPeak Pedaler

Hello! My name is Mitchell Long. I am also known as “The Mitchman.” I am 16 years old, a sophomore at Silver Creek High School in Longmont, Colorado, and I live with my parents, my sister, and two giant fuzzball Siberian Huskies. I’m a member of the high school cross country, swimming, and track teams, and I bike on my own nearly year-round.  I also enjoy skiing and hiking.

This is my fourth year doing Ride The Rockies. When my mom did her first Ride The Rockies in 2011, it inspired me to give it a try the next year when I was in 7th grade.  Ever since then, we’ve ridden together as “Team Mitchman.”  I started training on an old mountain bike, riding up to Lyons and other nearby places in Boulder County. I quickly switched to my first road bike, a Trek Lexa, and I put around 4000 miles on it over three years. This year I moved up to a Trek Domane 4.3.  I have ridden every mile of every RTR on my own power, including the snow storm on Berthoud Pass in 2014 and the dirt trail bypass on Ute Pass in 2012. I look forward to a fantastic 30th anniversary ride through Grand Mesa, the Black Canyon, Royal Gorge and to Westcliffe. I also plan to do more biking events this year, such as Double Triple Bypass, the Mt. Evans Hill Climb, and Copper Triangle.
