Arts in Ridgway

June 16: Gracie Jessop Live in the Courtyard at 610

It all started in Motor City.  Raised by two musicians, Gracie began singing before taking her first steps. Between her parents, teachers, and peers, her upbringing was surrounded by music and the performing arts. Before leaving for college she held a lead role in a number of plays and musicals, became involved in multiple bands, wrote and produced her own album, and taught music to help fund the next steps in her musical journey. Gracie’s hard work paid off when accepted at Berklee College of Music in the fall of 2011. After three years in Boston, MA, Gracie blossomed into a more mature and professional musician. Her time at Berklee prepared her for the many musical endeavors to come. She has headlined festivals such as the Tucson Jazz Festival and Telluride Jazz festival with her upcoming Colorado band, J-Calvin. Gracie now lives in New Orleans and consistently works as a lead vocalist, composer, arranger, and teacher of music with an extensive repertoire in jazz, motown, blues, soul, gospel and r&b.   More Info HERE

June 17: John Statz Live in the Courtyard

Join us for an evening of music in the courtyard with Denver based singer-songwriter John Statz. It was somewhere in England while on tour in September of 2019 that Colorado songwriter John Statz – stressed out by rainy days, Brexit anxiety, and a disintegrating relationship back home – began to feel optimistic and plan his new record. Early Riser is a balancing act between the experiences in modern life that cause us worry or pain and those that bring us joy. John presents songs with weighty topics alongside more personal songs of reverence for travel and the outdoors, falling in and out of love, and his parents’ relationship. These songs are brought to life by an ace band featuring Billy Conway (Morphine) on drums, Jeremy Moses Curtis (Booker T) on bass, and Denver multi-instrumentalist Kate Hannington on keys, backing vocals, woodwinds, and guitars.  One of the more prolific thirty-something songwriters working in the Folk/Americana genre today, John Statz has released nine studio albums and performed all over North America and Europe over the course of his fourteen-year career.  More Info HERE

June 16: Ovary-Acting Part Deux: Sketch Comedy Theatre
And fear not- you don’t need ovaries to enjoy this comedic event!
Sisters, mothers, daughters, and she lovers – or are they just best friends? What do they all have in common? Ovaries of course! Or do they? Well, that’s beside the point.Ovary Acting is a compilation of seven short interactions (or skits) between two female actors performed in quick succession. You’ll cry with the ravenous carnivore and fumble with fanatical fan. Be shocked by the gull of it all and be moved to manage what matters. But, mostly you’ll laugh.
Doors open 30 minutes prior to showtime. Tickets can be purchased here: https://buytickets.at/sherbinotheater/530591
